I'm New to Temple Israel

I'm New Here

Shalom!  Welcome to Temple Israel.  Whether you are looking for a shul to call home or have already become a member of our community, this is the right place to begin!

Temple Israel is a warm and welcoming community that has withstood the tests of time.  In 1954 a small group of “Pioneers” met to bring their dream into a reality – a Conservative congregation that would fulfill the spiritual, cultural and educational needs of its members.  In the intervening 60 years, the synagogue has had several addresses before acquiring the property in Winter Springs in 2006.  Throughout it all, what has remained a constant, is the desire to be a caring community of Jews interested in living a modern Jewish life, anchored by 3000 years of Jewish practice and tradition.  We are a fiercely participatory and egalitarian Conservative congregation and we welcome all those who have an interest in sharing, growing and learning with us.

Our Rabbi, Joshua Neely, has been the spiritual leader since 2010.  He is a welcoming, warm and caring man with an easy going manner.  His skills in the classroom and on the Bimah keep our congregants engaged as we discover new insights and discuss current events.  In 2013, Rabbi Neely became our Rav Beit HaSefer, the Principal of our Meitin Religious School.  This has allowed him to be more intimately involved with our students and Religious School families.

As a member of United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism, our Men's Club and Sisterhood are part of their respective national organizations, Federation of Jewish Men’s Club and Women’s League for Conservative Judaism.  Our youth groups are part of USY and Kadima.

Being a member of a community is a powerful statement of commitment for any family.  We hope that you will want to make that commitment with us and that we can journey on together.  We encourage everyone to come and join us for Shabbat worship, for a holiday or for any of the many activities that occur at Temple Israel.

If you are new to the Orlando area be sure to look at our information about Orlando Jewish Life for a snapshot of the various community organizations and websites.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you in person!
